You have to love corporate greed. send a bill see who pays. give an excuse that it was an over-site and automatically sent out by billing company or head offices. claim no records until recently.

now think about this for a moment if they have information to mail out a bill or charge credit cards. . . wouldn't that information also check in and check out dates?

there can be a lot of excuses made for this, but the bottom line is there is no valid excuse for doing such an "oversight".

TWO guests trapped in a hotel during the devastating February 22 earthquake in Christchurch say they feel "kicked in the guts" after being sent a bill for $233.
When the quake struck the Hotel Grand Chancellor the guests had to smash down doors, brave collapsed staircases and crawl on the roof of an adjacent carpark to escape, New Zealand’s The Press reports.

One man, who declined to be named, said he is upset at being sent the bill, despite the hotel later waiving the charge.

“It was a pretty traumatic experience for us,'' the man said. "I would never send something like that."

The bill for two nights included a $14 carpark fee for a car that took two months to recover.

The couple have not yet received an insurance payment for the $11,664 worth of luggage still stuck in the hotel, with the insurer saying the items could still be recovered.

They had a lot of luggage as they were about to move to Australia.

The pair had been watching a movie in their room on the 22nd floor when the quake struck. The stairs had collapsed, trapping them in the lobby with other guests for three hours.

A member of the group prised open the doors on the floor below and the guests climbed down the stairs until they reached the 14th floor where they smashed a window and jumped onto an adjacent roof before being rescued.

A Hotel Grand Chancellor spokesperson said the bill was an oversight and that the affected guests would not be expected to pay for their stay.

The hotel has only recently gained access to the accounts of guests who hired rooms just before the earthquake.
