Somehow it seems that they should worry about other people that are doing far worse first.

Ex-porn actor fired from school allowed to seek teaching certificate

By msnbc.com staff

A former porn actor fired from his job as a substitute teacher may pursue teaching certification, a Florida education commission has ruled.

"Pornography is not against the law," Shawn Loftis, 36, was quoted as saying by The Miami Herald after he won his challenge.

The commission reversed an earlier decision against Loftis, who was fired when officials found out about his past as a gay porn actor.

Loftis, who has been unemployed since his firing in April 2011, said he plans to keep fighting to get his job back.

"The next step is Miami-Dade Public Schools," Loftis told the Herald. "Now I’m going to fight to be reinstated because the state has determined that I’m allowed to teach."

A schools spokesman emphasized that a certificate would not guarantee a job.

"It’s important not to confuse certification with employment," said Miami-Dade Public Schools spokesman John Schuster. "Having a teaching certificate does not guarantee employment or reemployment. And school districts are under no obligation to provide employment to any individual just because he or she has a teaching certificate."
