This is a step by step list of everything seen on each screen of the registration process.

Step 1:
Click on the Register option on the upper right of the options list.

Step 2:
Registration Agreement Terms and COPPA page.
Normal Registration Information.

Select if you are 13 or older or if you are under 13 years of age.

COPPA requirements.
If you are under 13 the we are suppose to get your parent or guardian’s permission before we can activate your account. You will be emailed a form that must be signed by your parent or guardian and returned to us before we can activate your account. (I know it is a pain. Welcome to the world of government bureaucracy.)

Step 3:
Registration Information: * Required

Note: Usernames ARE case sensitive. We recommend using all lower case. (example: TRoach is not the same as troach)
Note: Usernames are visible by everyone; we reserve the right to remove any account that uses a name, term or phrase that we feel is inappropriate.

*Email address:
(We send a conformation email to this email address for you to be able to use this board. Thus what you put here needs to be accurate. By default we do not share your email address, though you can choose to allow your email to be seen by everyone. We rarely send mass emails. You have the option to select if you want to receive email notifications of new postings when following a board topic.) The two main reasons we require an email address is:
A. Should you forget your password (we email a new password to this address when it is reset).
B. Sometimes the topics conversations can get a little, dare I say, spirited, thus we use the email so that we can tell users when they are making statements that might be considered inappropriate.

Something you can remember but no one else would think of. If you forget your password, we can rest it to a new one. The new password will be emailed to you.

*Confirmation Code:
A series of letters and numbers that must be entered EXACTLY as pictured. The code is case sensitive. A zero has a diagonal line through it.

Profile Information (optional ... all fields here CAN be left blank)
This information will be publicly viewable.

ICQ Number:
AIM Address:
MSN Messenger:
Yahoo Messenger:
(Note: we reserve the right to remove this information as well as you account should the site be inappropriate. For example: hate, porn, racist, scams, etc. sites)

As with email signatures, this text is added to the end of each of your posts.

Always show my e-mail address: default is NO
(we suggest leaving this NO so that your email address is hidden.)

Hide your online status: default is NO

Always notify me of replies: default is NO
(We suggest leaving this NO. As it sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post or later in preference update.)

Notify on new Private Message: Default is YES
(this will allow an email notice to be sent to you when another user sends you a private internal BBS message)

Pop up window on new Private Message: Default is YES
(if you have a popup blocker or just do not like popups change this option to NO)

Always attach my signature: Default is YES

Always allow BBCode: default is YES
(this is for using fonts and special functions in your posts)

Always allow HTML: Default is No

Always enable Smilies:

Board Language: ENGLISH (no other choices)

Board Style: subSilver (no other choices)

Timezone: GMT
(we recommend leaving this alone however if you want to see times based on your local time select the appropriate +/- time zone adjustment)

Date format: the code displays date time in the following format:
Thu Jan 01, 2006 12:01 am
(we recommend leaving the format as it is.)

Once all information is filled out . . . click submit
(Note: most of the information can be changed later so it is ok to leave blank or simply accept the defaults.)

Step 4:
You will then be sent to a conformation page.

You should receive a conformation email message shortly (times vary depending on network traffic):
(Note: If you dont get the message fairly quickly be sure that your spam filters are not blocking the message or that the message has not simply been placed in your bulk / spam folder area.)

The email message will look like:

Subject: Welcome to What Do You Think? Forums

This email will include your user name password and some basic information. Most importantly, however, it contains a link which you MUST go to in order to activate your account.

Step 5
Once you click on the link you are ready to log in.
