..Abu Sayyaf seeks P30M ransom for Fil-Chi trader
Manila Bulletin May 28, 2014
SABELA CITY, Basilan
Suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have demanded P30 million for the release of a Filipino-Chinese trader and her 19 year old daughter.
The police said the ransom demand was relayed to the son of Dina Lim Eraham last Saturday morning through a cellular phone.
Dina, 45, together with daughter Yayong Lim Tan, were kidnapped by at least 10 ASG gunmen inside their establishment - Dalby Videoke House and Refreshment Parlor at I. Magno Extension, Port Area, Isabela City, Thursday night.
The police said a Task Force Dalby was formed to work for the rescue of the two.
The two were abducted less than two months after a school principal was freed by the ASG operating in Sumisip, Basilan.
Benita Latonio, 60, principal of Manggal Elementary School, was abducted by five men on March 31 at Sitio Mompol in Libug village, Sumisip town while on board a passenger jeepney.
The jeep was headed to Isabela City when it was flagged down by the ASG. |
