If there is a god, why would he allow such death and destruction?

If god was omnipotent wouldn’t he have power to stop war, famine, natural disaster, killing, pain, the destruction of the earth?

A lot of people like to blame things on God that are actually the free will choices (poor choices granted) of many generations of people.

We are responsible for all of our actions. And, as I am sure you are aware, many of our actions (good and bad) often affect many people around us. Plus if major enough of a choice will even affect our children as well as sometimes their children and even their children’s children (and so on).

Sadly we do a lot of the negative things to ourselves. God gave us freewill as well as dominion over this earth we can either choose to take care of it and each other or we can choose to allow it all to be destroyed. God will not interfere with what we do.

Perhaps a better example would be with some of the medical problems I have seen during my time outside the USA. These days there is not a reason in the world that anyone should suffer from diseases like polio, tuberculosis, typhoid, diphtheria or may others as any child though out the world can be given the vaccines that can prevent these devistatining illnesses at little or no cost to the parent. However, the parent has to bring the child in to a clinic in order to get the vaccinations. Though out the world the vaccines are available but sadly the parents will not bring in their children.

In the time I have been outside the USA I have seen so many things that are unheard of in westernised countries. Such as children inflicted with polio, to people that have died of tuberculosis.

Then people say why did “God” let this happen?

The fact is God had nothing to do with it. The people did it to themselves and their own children. For all of it was easily preventable. But they would not accept the help or get the shots. While we would like go to each family and force them to get the treatments, that is not a legal option. All that can be done is let people know the treatments are available. Then the people have to do the rest, and make the effort to come to the clinic or vaccination center.

Sadly that is a lot of the same logic why God does not appear to be helping. He is here and trying to help us. But we, people in general, have to make the effort meet him half way.

God will not force anyone to follow His way. . . But there is a price to pay not only in this world but also in the next for ignoring His instructions.
