A lot depends on the context of the conversation. However in general, not meaning to put down Christians in general (for this does not apply to all) but when someone has to tell me what a "fine christian" they are, if someone must tell me in order for me to know they are a "christian". If I cannot recognize that the person is a Christian by their day-to-day actions. When someone feels the need to tell me they are a christian to try to show/prove what a good person they are, I usually get the urge to guard my wallet and hide "the silverware" (anything of value).
For following the teachings of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a way of life not something that is to be done one or two days a week, when someone is watching or just when it is convenient.
As a person I know puts it, "If someone has to tell you they are a christian, the person is probably not really following Our Lord." |
