"Saudi Arabia asserted on Thursday that the Arab-Israeli conflict still overshadowed and dominated all the issues in the Middle East and called for finding a quick solution to the problem to promote world peace and stability."

It is to bad that Saudi Arabia's idea of ending the Arab-Israeli conflict is for Israel to no longer exist and for every Jew to be dead. It is also to bad that their idea for world peace and stability is total Islamic control of every nation.

Should we mention to them that there are a lot of us do not plan on being executed or under their control without a fight.

If they really want a quick solution it is a simple process to start Muslims and Islamic leadership should start treating everyone else the way they want to be treated. For example don't like people making negative comments about Islam, then don't make negative comments about other groups and stop killing people for making those comments.

Another good step would be to start showing a bit of self control within Islam stop your own before the rest of us have to do it. And it might also help to stop saying how horrible non-muslims are for stopping a Muslim from taking a bomb into a crowded area.

Just a thought for first steps if you really want peace.

Arab-Israeli conflict dominates ME issues: Saudi envoy

NEW YORK: Saudi Arabia asserted on Thursday that the Arab-Israeli conflict still overshadowed and dominated all the issues in the Middle East and called for finding a quick solution to the problem to promote world peace and stability.

"There is no other regional conflict that has a greater impact on world peace that the Arab-Israeli conflict," said Omar bin Ali Al-Oyaidi, acting charge d'affairs at the Saudi mission in the United Nations.

"The problem is exacerbating due to the absence of good will from the part of the Israeli government, which instead of searching earnestly for peace, continues to acquire more of Palestinian territories and build illegal settlements to create a new fait accompli and continue to kill Palestinians and seize their territories," he told the UN Security Council.

In a speech on behalf of the Arab delegations to the UN, Al-Oyaidi blasted Israeli's illegal settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, which is a problem that threatens to undermine the entire peace process.

He also criticized the unethical sanctions imposed on Palestinians living under occupation while the occupation authorities continue in their practices with no accountability.

"Peace is the only way to achieve security for Palestinians and Israelis alike, but we doubt the intentions of Israel due to its failure to provide any serious peace initiatives, stalling negotiations and relying on unilateral measures which will never bring peace," he explained.

Al-Oyaidi added that it is high time for Israel to realize that it cannot continue to exempt itself from complying with international resolutions. He urged the council's countries to take a collective position against Israel's settlement activities.

He said the freezing of the peace process, the current siege on Gaza, subsequent humanitarian disasters and military attacks against the Palestinian people would encourage radical forces to carry out terrorist attacks. He also criticized the Security Council's double standard while implementing UN resolutions and imposing vetoes. He urged the UN to change this double standard in order to win credibility and promote world peace.
