Would you murder one innocent person to save others?
Let us suppose . . .
You are captured by a ruthless and corrupt military in a foreign country.
The military is about to execute twenty people that have been declared enemies of the state.
The only crime the people have committed is speaking out against the corrupt government.
The commander tells you that if you will pick and execute one of the twenty he will let the other nineteen go free.
If you refuse, all twenty will be executed.
He also (honestly) tells you regardless of what you choose to do, you will be released unharmed afterward.
You are not allowed to talk to anyone in the group of twenty.
The group is made up of males and females of different ages, young, middle age and older.
All appear to be in good health.
The question is
do you select and murder one person in the group so the other nineteen can go free
OR
do you allow all twenty to be executed? |
