What is the function of the members of a jury in a jury trial?
Many, if not most countries today, have the option of a trial by Jury, but I wonder how many people really know what the role and duties of a jury has been not only today but through out history?
With this question we are not concerned with country, nationality or what crime the accused is charged but simply the function of a jury in all cases that a jury is asked to evaluate.
So what do you think . . .
What is the function of the members of a jury in a jury trial?
A. Decide if the accused is guilty or not guilty?
B. Decide if the law was applied against the defendant correctly.
C. Decide if the law is an appropriate law or if it should be invalidated.
D. When necessary ignore the official instructions about the duties of a jury if those instructions go against what the jury believes is just/right even if it is the correct current law.
E. All of the above.
F. None of the above.
