Actually I have been given two definitions for kufr, so I am not sure which is correct.
(hopefully some people that actually practice Islam will jump in and help clarify this.)
The first definition I found says:
Kufr refers to hiding, denying, or covering up the "truth".
The second definition I found says:
Kufr is the action(s) of the disbelievers.
While kaafir is the name given to the non-believer.

the simplest way to think of it kufr is the verb, kaafir is the noun.
However, in some of the writings I have read kufr was used as the noun (referring to a person making deceitful actions, similar to kaafir), though that could be translation or typing mistakes. |
