The response to this question really shows a lot about what Islam is really like even to their own people.

For those that do no know what they are talking about here. The Tawaaf is one of the rituals of islam where people walk around the kabah in a counter clockwise pattern while saying a prayer/chant.

Apparently it somehow harms others if anyone hold hands or at times face some non-dictated direction while doing this thing.

The question:

They form rings around the women in tawaaf and the Ka’bah is not to their left

Many men, if they have women with them, hold hands with one another during tawaaf and form a ring around the women who are with them so that some of them end up doing tawaaf with their backs to the Ka’bah or with the Ka’bah on their right.

The bold and underline are mine to point out a very important and generic statement.


The answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

This matter is serious on the one hand and harmful on the other. It is harmful because if they come like that all together, they harm the people and it is known that it is not permissible for anyone to deliberately harm or annoy Muslims.

As for its seriousness, that is because, as the questioner says, some people end up doing tawaaf with their backs to the Ka’bah or with the Ka’bah in front of them. One of the conditions of tawaaf is that you should walk with the Ka’bah on your left. If you walk with your back to it or with it on your right or in front of you, then tawaaf is not valid.
