If God created Adam first and then Eve?
Then why is female the default sex in humans?
"Except for the potential contained within the genetic content of its chromosomes and the subsequent formation of primordial tissue, the human embryo is essentially asexual for the first weeks of its life. It has been shown that the undifferentiated gonads are destined to become ovaries unless acted upon by TDF (testis determining factor), which is genetically encoded on the Y chromosome. Therefore the default sex of the human embryo is female." |

The first problem with your assumption is that you are not going to have a male or a female child if the male does not supply that X or Y chromosome. A child's sex is determined by the father’s chromosomes and is determined the moment the egg is fertilized. Though granted the sex is not recognizable until the child (embryo) has developed several weeks.
It is amazing all the things that have happen at just the right time in just the right order; all the chemicals and hormones being produced at just the right time and concentration for a child to develop. And it all starts at the moment the egg is fertilized.
As for a "default" sex of a child, there was a study many years ago that suggested the father's age seemed to slightly affect the probability of the child being male or female. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of age ranges more likely to produce a male child, then as the male gets older the more likely the child is to be female. (Again it was only a slight difference.)
But I assume you were asking from a spiritual standpoint, why God would have done such a thing. So let us make a couple of assumptions.
First that God did create all life
and
Second that females are the predominate/default sex that will be born.
My next statement may seem sexist to some, and I am sorry if it offends anyone. But from a purely logical standpoint, why would God cause reproduction to produce more females than males? Would it not make sense in order for the human species to survive and increase in numbers that more females would be needed than males? Especially in the days when there were so few humans. |
