Hooded men murder four in Philippine ambush: police

About 30 hooded gunmen ambushed a bus in the restive southern Philippines, killing four people and wounding two others, authorities said Thursday.

Four passengers were killed Wednesday in the attack on the island of Basilan, a stronghold of the Al-Qaeda-linked Muslim extremist group Abu Sayyaf, they said.

Government forces rushed to the scene but the unidentified attackers had already fled, the military said.

The attack took place near the site where Abu Sayyaf militants kidnapped and than beheaded three lumberjacks earlier this month, local police said.
